Policies & Guidelines

How Imaandaar.com works

The rules, values, and practices that keep this platform useful, honest, and safe for everyone.

About this page

This page is maintained by Imaandaar.com to answer common questions about how our platform works, what we expect from contributors, and how we handle the information shared with us. The rules below apply to everyone who reads, posts, comments, or otherwise uses Imaandaar.com.

Imaandaar.com is a citizen-led platform for local news, public questions, and neighbourhood reports from across India. We are not a government body, a registered news company, or a certified fact-checking organisation. We are a community trying to build a more honest, local, and useful public record.

Content & editorial policy

We publish stories and questions that come from ordinary citizens about their own states, districts, and neighbourhoods. Every post submitted to the public feed is reviewed by a human editor before it goes live. We do not publish stories automatically.

We prioritise factual, local, and civic information. Good posts include: local news, civic problems, government scheme updates, event announcements, safety alerts, and direct questions to elected representatives.

We do not publish content that is false, misleading, defamatory, hateful, discriminatory, sexually explicit, violent, or that incites illegal activity. We also remove duplicate posts, spam, promotional content, and stories that cannot be tied to a real place or event.

A post does not become true just because it is popular. We may add an editor’s note, request evidence, or remove a story if later information shows it was inaccurate.

Community guidelines

  • Be honest. Post only what you believe to be true, based on your own knowledge or reliable sources. If you are unsure, say so. Do not invent facts, quotes, or incidents.
  • Be respectful. Do not attack individuals based on religion, caste, gender, ethnicity, or political belief. Criticism of public officials and policies is allowed; personal abuse is not.
  • Protect privacy. Do not share someone’s home address, phone number, Aadhaar number, or other private information without their clear consent. Do not post photos of minors without permission from a parent or guardian.
  • Stay local and useful. Write clearly, mention the state and district when possible, and explain why the issue matters to the community. Avoid clickbait titles and all-caps headlines.
  • One account per person. Do not create multiple accounts to manipulate votes, comments, or visibility. Misleading automation or bots are not allowed.

Privacy & data use

We collect only the information needed to run the platform: your email address at sign-in, the display name you choose, the content you post, and basic usage data such as page views and errors.

Your email address is used for account security and, when necessary, to contact you about your posts. We do not sell your email address or personal data to advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties.

Posts you publish on Imaandaar.com are public and may be indexed by search engines. Think carefully before sharing personal details inside a public post. If you need to remove something you posted, contact us at the email below.

We use secure hosting and authentication services provided by Lovable Cloud. Platform-level security features such as encryption at rest, access controls, and regular backups are managed by Lovable Cloud. We are responsible for how we configure and use those features within our own application.

This is a description of current practices, not a legal contract or a certification of compliance with any specific regulation.

Moderation & takedown policy

Editors and designated administrators can edit, hide, or remove any post that violates these policies. We may also suspend accounts that repeatedly break the rules.

If you believe a post about you is false, harmful, or violates your privacy, write to us at connect@imaandaar.com with the post link, the reason for your request, and any evidence you can share. We will review the request and respond within a reasonable time.

We remove or edit content only when there is a clear policy reason. We do not remove posts simply because they are critical of a person, party, organisation, or government.

If you see content that appears illegal or urgent (for example, a credible threat of violence), report it to the appropriate authorities first, then notify us.
